Hello backers! The Print and Play has been finalized and distributed through BackerKit. Log in to your account for your download link for the zip file, which contains the Unition Rulebook and Print and Play PDFs.
Some notes:
1. Print double-sided with the page flipped on the long edge.
2. I recommend printing at ‘actual size’. Your printer should clip the edges of the pdf, but everything within the black border should remain intact and the sizes of everything will remain accurate. The black border represents a .25 inch margin ‘safe zone’ which is what most printers will cut off.
3. The privacy screens couldn‘t fit on the page as a foldable format, so you’ll need to cut the three pieces out and tape them together on the edges indicated.
4. Cardstock is your friend.
Since Unition hasn’t been manufactured yet, consider yourselves playtesters! I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback so I can keep polishing the game before it’s locked for production. It’s helpful for me to know how your games end (through whomp or cool), how it played out (was it close? Was it a landslide?) and how long it went. Please let me know if any rules are unclear, or any elements unenjoyable. And of course, let me know if you see any typos.
While the game is 95% complete and at this stage can’t be changed too much, small tweaks can often have big effects, so I appreciate any and all feedback.
To that end, take a peek at the last page of the PnP for some variant ideas. Some might work their way into the rulebook as base rule changes or variants and some might be a basis for expansion content. Take them for a spin and let me know what you think! It‘s recommended that you have a strong understanding of the game before trying these variants.
You can email me with any questions ([email protected]) or message me or leave a comment on Kickstarter.
I’ve said it many times before, but I’ll say it again: thank you so much for your support. I’m excited for you to be able to play Unition, and I can’t wait to get the full experience in your hands soon. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Hello backers and happy Friday! Dropping a line to let you know how things are progressing.
You may have noticed your cards were charged yesterday for what you pledged during the campaign. Kickstarter waits two weeks to transfer funds from the campaign, and that step is now complete.
Next up will be the backer surveys which have been submitted to BackerKit and will be rolling out to you all incrementally over the next few days. In the surveys, you'll be asked to confirm your pledge level, submit your shipping address and email, and be given the option to select any add-ons you want. Based on what you pledged, you'll have a credit already factored in. If you don't want any add-ons, you won't be charged any extra.
Please note that you will not be charged for shipping at this point. Further down the road, after the games have been printed and ready for shipping we'll send out a second survey, and that's when shipping and VAT will be charged.
There's a number of reasons for this. First, we don't know Unition's final weight and dimensions and want to ensure we have accurate numbers when calculating the shipping charges. Second, due to supply chain issues, shipping rates are still high. It's my hope that when we're ready to ship, these costs could go down. Third, with an added amount of time to settle on shipping, I'll be able to keep our options open for who does the shipping and make sure that we're always going to be able to get the best price. I know the shipping prices were a concern for some of you, and this is my way of finding the best solution.
In other news, I've added the Lore Book as an add-on for those interested. This is not something that needs to be purchased now, since it's not yet been created, and the product image is not representative of how it'll look. If you want to wait on more details, you can always purchase it separately later. I wanted to put it in and get an idea of preliminary interest.
The BackerKit storefront will be open to the public for late pledges/preorders after all the surveys have gone out. If you have any friends who missed the campaign but wanted to get a copy, they'll soon have an opportunity to do so.
Next item for me to tackle is getting the PDFs of the print-and-play out to you all. Please note that I'll need your email to send you the print-and-plays, so make sure to fill out your survey when it comes through so there's no issues with delivery. I was originally hoping that I could get the PnP's out at the end of this weekend, but BackerKits' processes were more involved than I expected. They will be coming soon, hopefully within the next week, if all goes well.
That's it for now! Thanks and have a great weekend!
Mike
The Unition campaign is officially complete with $14,683 raised from 395 of you!
When I first embarked on this journey with a bunch of scrawled drawings and icons on a pile of poorly cut index cards, I never would have imagined that it would get to a prototype stage. And a successfully funded Kickstarter with a few stretch goals knocked off, too? Insanity.
So this is where I say thank you to EVERYONE who helped, at every stage, to get Unition to where it is now: to my friends who saw something in those index cards and, later, and played countless rounds while I tried to refine and tweak details; to the playtesting strangers and game stores who freely gave their time and space to some random guy's card game; to my family and friends for all the proofreading, encouragement and excitement over the campaign (especially those who aren't even into board games!); to those who repeatedly shared the campaign in their circle of friends; and to my wonderful wife who convinced me I wasn't crazy (when I am, in fact, crazy) and helped me get this whole thing off the ground.
And I of course want to thank all of YOU, who took a chance on me and my idea by funding it with your hard-earned money. Like I've said many times before, seeing the excitement and enthusiasm from you all through pledges, messages, comments, and requests has been a reward all its own. I'm glad you see something great in this game, and I can't wait to get you a copy that you can play and enjoy.
As for the stretch goals-- not only did you all get the game funded, but you got it past the bare-bones stage with some nice extras. Unfortunately, we landed shy of our goal for the game board, which was something a lot of you (myself included) were excited about. After giving it some thought, I've decided to include the game board in all copies of Unition as my way of saying thank you for making my first game and campaign a success. I think it'll add a lot to the experience, and I hope you'll enjoy it. I'll be posting updates as I work on developing it.
Additionally, there seemed to be some interest in the lore book-- if there's enough demand for it, I'll look into the possibility of producing it as an add-on that you'd be able to include with your copy of Unition before it ships.
The Print and Play will be coming soon to all backers at the $10 tier and above. I'm working in a few recently playtested tweaks before sending it out your way and I encourage you all to take it for a spin yourselves. While much of the game is finalized, I'm still considering small changes that can improve things, so please give me your feedback.
BackerKit surveys and late pledge options will be added over the next day or so. Keep an eye out for them.
And once again, thank you all for your support in getting us here. Unition is officially coming soon.
All the best,
--Mike
Lumohedron Games
What a day yesterday: a ton of support from a lot of new folks. To those of you who have just joined, welcome aboard and thanks for the support!
I'm happy to report we passed our first stretch goal of $13,000 last night, which means we've unlocked the heavier 310 gsm blackcore cardstock. Nice work!! We're almost halfway to the next stretch goal of $14,000, which will add the world map to the inside box lid. And if we're feeling really ambitious, there's the game board at $15,000.
The official end of the campaign will be tomorrow, April 14th, at 10am. While there will be late pledge options open afterward, it'll be at retail price, so make sure you jump in before it's over if you want the Kickstarter discount.
Additionally, future updates will be going out only to backers. I'll be doing behind-the-scenes updates on the production process, as well as taking polls on some of the decision points we'll have coming up as I finalize design. Backing at $1 will get you access to these updates, so if you can't swing a full copy right now, you can still stay involved and updated.
Again, thanks to everyone for getting us this far. We're in the home stretch. Let's do this!
Mike
